
Rachyl Pines, PhD
Senior Data Analyst/ Consultant
Dr. Rachyl Pines is a Clinical Research Scientist. She is a proud first generation student who earned her BA in Communication Studies, with a minor in Spanish from University of San Diego. She then earned her MA and PhD in Communication at UC Santa Barbara. Following completion of her PhD, she completed a brief Postdoctoral Fellowship with UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine and the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation focused on patient education, advocacy and disparities reduction in management of chronic kidney disease. Her research has focused on improving provider-patient interactions to improve patient care, especially for patient groups with health disparities. She conducts projects in Population Health, Behavioral Health, Diabetes, and Pediatrics.
Dr. Pines has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, as evidenced by her more than 20 peer reviewed, empirical publications in academic journals. She has conducted virtual and in-person trainings with multidisciplinary teams to improve interpersonal interactions, including reducing bias and focusing on person-centered communication for more than 5 years.
Dr. Pines lives in Santa Barbara with her partner and is active in her community. She has been a dance teacher and professional ballet and modern dancer for more than ten years. Her love for dance and her community is evidenced by her non-profit board memberships that encourage arts education for disadvantaged youth.
